Northville
Location
Northville is about 30 minutes northwest of Detroit on the western fringe of the Detroit Metropolitan area. Its 2.2 square miles are almost evenly divided among Wayne, Oakland and Washtenaw Counties. between, ernmost community in Wayne County and perfectly positioned for accessibility to the other most populous counties in Southeast Michigan – Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Livingston Counties. The community has a pleasant suburban town feel but is a short drive to Detroit, Auburn Hills, Ann Arbor and elsewhere. It is near the junction of I-96, a major east-west corridor out of Detroit and I-275, a north-south interstate. M-14 provides access to Ann Arbor, 25 minutes away.History
Northville initially was part of the nearby Plymouth community. The first settlers cames to the area in the early 1800s and one of the first businesses was a grist mill. The community became a village in 1867. It remained that way for more than 100 years, finally becoming a city in 1972.Education
The area is part of the award-winning Northville School District with six elementary schools, two middle schools, and a high school. The district’s scores on the state’s standardized math and reading tests typically are about 35 percent above state averages.2010 Demographics

The city has a senior citizen center, district library, and joint city/townships recreation program set amid rolling hills and attractive countryside. Northville maintains a small-town and a historic district that showcases its Victorian-era architecture. A walkable downtown includes vintage street lamps, specialty shops, galleries, theaters, restaurants and other attractions. The River Rouge runs through the downtown area. One of the area’s gems is the Mill Race Historical Village, which celebrates the architecture and lifestyles of a bygone era. Nearby is the Maybury State Park, with a working farm, the Northville Downs horse-racing track, and the Northville Cider Mill.Each summer the city holds "Art in the Sun," an arts and crafts festival. In the fall, a Victorian Festival is held, accented by the area’s many Victorian homes.
