The first settler to homestead in what was to become Dundee was William Remmington, who arrived in 1823. In 1836, a Scotsman named Alonzo Curtis was the area postmaster and decided to establish a new post office in the town. He called it Dundee, in memory of his ancestors’ village in Scotland. It eventually was incorporated as a village in 1855.Education

Dundee is known as the "hub of the highways" because it’s located approximately at the junction of M-50 and US-23. However, a closer look reveals that it’s also a center of culture, recreation and tourism. From the Italianate architecture of its historice downtown buildings, to its quaint Old Mill Museum housed in an old mill and one-time hydro station established by Henry Ford, to its historic Triangle Park in the village’s center, Dundee has a rich and varied heritage. The creation of a Cabela’s outdoor equipment store made Dundee one of Michigan’s primary tourist destinations almost overnight and spurred a raft of related development, both commercial, industrial and residential.Official government Web site: http://www.dundeevillage.net/
